Don't take things personally
A common thing that happens during discussions and arguments are people taking things personally. Even when things are stated to be in general or it's stated towards a subset of people that isn't them.
It's normal for things to feel personal, especially since we're human and humans have feelings. This doesn't mean we should act upon them though. I'd like to think that all emotions are understandable, but not all reactions are.
