Loving The Moon

The cold burned the thighs marked by crescent moons. 12 winters have since passed from this ones nameday, each moon fusing into an amalgamation of petals and thorns.

I was fairly young when I had my “darkest” moment in life. The toll of moving to a different city, my parents divorce, assimilating into a new school, and leaving that new school again to ANOTHER new school for junior high all in the span of three years smacked me into the wall like a train wreck. Coupled with covid and having to stay at home for an indefinite amount of time, it was not a good mix at all.

In spite of it all, I was able to pull through with this album:

Love Yourself: Answer

I would sit and cry on the bathroom floor, listening to Epiphany on repeat. I’d wrap my arms around me, giving myself a hug and trying to say:

I'm the one I should love in this world 빛나는 나를, 소중한 내 영혼을
이제야 깨달아, so I love me 좀 부족해도 너무 아름다운 걸
I'm the one I should love

I'm the one I should love in this world
Shining me, precious soul of mine I finally realized so I love me Not so perfect but so beautiful
I'm the one I should love

...

조금은 뭉툭하고 부족할지 몰라
수줍은 광채 따윈 안 보일지 몰라
하지만 이대로의 내가 곧 나인 걸
지금껏 살아온 내 팔과, 다리, 심장, 영혼을

I may be a bit blunt, I may lack some things
I may not have that shy glow around me
But this is me
My arms, my legs, my heart, my soul

I no longer listen to BTS due to their stance on Palestine, but I do have fond memories of this album.
